BT Brings 4G Support for O2

O2 is going to have all its 4G related support from BT. And BT will help this operator achieve a faster network in near future.

O2 and BT have signed a contract for next ten years of support and co-operation. O2 will help BT develop a superfast network.
This agreement simply means that from now on BT will provide O2 all 4G services and it will help O2 get better and wider network capacity. BT has more secure spectrum in the 4G auction and it is in all potential for bringing in better services for network provider.
Additionally, BT will stay responsible for bringing O2 better back up and stronger connection between the network base station and the new network.

Old Merger Get Approval from Shareholders

On Wednesday the shareholders of MetroPCS Communications voted and approved a merger with U. S. 4th wireless service provider T-mobile USA. Though, they have softened their terms and conditions related to this after facing a huge resistance from activists shareholders.
This deal was declared in 2012 October. However, it had been held on up to first week of this month.

ZTE enters Into Android Patent Deal with Microsoft

One of the World’s largest Smartphones manufacturers and China’s corporate giant ZTE has entered into a deal with Microsoft and has agreed to pay loyalty for its devices that come up with Google’s Inc’s Android and Chrome operating systems.
 
ZTE is among the hardware manufacturers who made a deal with Microsoft lately and said that it would start using Android. Google provides this free to handset manufacturers by using Microsoft technology.
 
However, Google along with its Motorola phone manufacturer unit are the most notable one who resist agreeing with Microsoft’s patent rights. This difference of opinions is likely to be settled soon which now depends on Seattle court’s verdict.
This latest deal with ZTE makes it clear that Microsoft has already signed deals with the top four out of the five largest Android phone manufactures.
Microsoft has already entered into patent rights deal with Samsung, LG and HTC. However, it has no deal with China’s fast-growing manufacturer Huawei though.

Users Want Larger Than Life Mobile Screen

In a survey conducted all over the month of March 2013, mobile users have questioned about their present devices and what more they would expect from their mobile devices. The conductor of this survey was iGR and the other list of questions was related to what activity they do in their mobile devices and Tablets and how they would recommend the manufacturers for their dream devices.
However, one of the questions of main focus was about the screen size of the devices users love to use. This top the list of questions as iGR is focusing more on the mobile screen size itself. On smartphones even, people love using bigger mobile screen and they really want it when it comes down to shopping for a new device. 40% of the people who take this survey said that they would like to have the same size of mobile screen as they are having it right now; 21% of them want a much bigger screen. A few of them choose for smaller screen too.

NAO (UK) is set to investigate into 4G cases

After the failure of 4G auctions to bring in expected level of revenue for the UK government,
the National Audit Office is all set to make a thorough investigation into the cases. Earlier
this year, the 4G auction earned or raised a fund. It was only 203billion pound. The bidders
who were successful are EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three. However, the amount was less by
1.2 billion pound as forecasted by the treasury.

Guardian magazines reports that the NAO’s officers are going to make through study of
this failure and are going to dig up the entire earth to find out the reasons why this failure
took place. They are two officers who are going to conduct this and they would make “value
for money” study. They added they by facing a failure in this project, the government has
failed to get the expected result. And this is why they want a clear analysis of the study.

On the other hand, Ofcom commented that instead of focusing much on the collecting
amount, they were more concerned about the competitive market prevailing all across the
United Kingdom.

Goodman has been quoted as saying by the Guardian that serious questions related to the
failure of this auction on 4G happened even after the government has reported something
else just a month earlier.

O2 Comes Up With New Tariff Plan

O2 has announced the launch of a new 24 month tariff, O2 Refresh, designed to allow customers to upgrade their device at any time during their contract.
 On Refresh customers will be able to separate their airtime agreement from the handset cost and, as a result, replace the device whenever they wish after paying off any balance remaining on the original handset.
It claims the new tariff, which is available from Tuesday,‘simplifies’ the subsidy model and allows customers to pay off how ever much of the phone price they want to upfront, reducing monthly payments.

The airtime side of the deal will cost either £12 a month for 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data; £17 for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data or £22 for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data.

Samsung’s New Profit Forecast

A new report has come out that states that Samsung is expecting a 53% hike in profit in the same quarter last year. The amount they are forecasting is almost Won 8.7 trillion.

However, they have accepted the fact that their profit would go down by 8.8 trillion which is marking the end of highest profit earning quarters in a successive period. Today is being celebrated all over the world as the 40th Anniversary of the first mobile phone device. In the city of New York the first call was made with a Motorola handset. The first caller was an employee of Motorola, Martin Copper.

BlackBerry Loses 3m Customers Yet Again Earns Higher Profit in Q4

A report shows that BlackBerry loses 3m customers in just three months to March 2 2013. However, this lose haven’t yet impacted its profit-margin. Interestingly, BlackBerry makes a profit rise from $14m to $94m in the Q4.

At the end of the previous quarter, BlackBerry had a customer base of 79m which has now come down to 76m. Even, the revenue for it’s the third quarter was 2% higher than the revenue for its Q4. By the end of Q3, BlackBerry revenue was 2.7billion. However, the Q4 revenue figure points a slowdown in revenue generation by 36% in compare to the same period last year.


 
 By January 31 2013, BlackBerry dispatched one million BlackBerry 10 units to the UK and the rest 5m smartphones were shipped the world over.

This manufacture looks forward to launching an extensive marketing campaign in Q1 which will be followed by the global release of BlackBerry 10. They expect a 50% increase of sales sequentially.
